Hawd Climate Guardian (HCG) is a Somali-led climate resilience and community development organization based in Dolow, Gedo Region, Jubaland State, Somalia. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what choices you have. You can reach us at info@hawdclimateguardian.org.

2. What we collect

Contact form. If you send us a message through the Contact page, we collect the details you type in: your name, email address, organization (optional), the type of inquiry, a subject (optional) and your message. Please do not include sensitive personal information, such as health, financial or identity details, in the form.

Spam protection. When you send a message, we also record the IP address of your connection. We use it only to limit how many messages one connection can send per hour and to block automated abuse.

Website usage. This version of the website does not use Google Analytics or other tracking tools. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy first.

Technical data. Our hosting provider receives standard technical information when your browser loads a page, such as your IP address and browser details.

Your browser. The public pages do not set advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress sets a sign-in cookie only for staff who log in. Visitors do not need an account.

Information about people who take part in our programmes is not collected through this website. It is handled under our own safeguarding, consent and data policies.

3. How we use it

• To read and reply to your message, and to follow up on partnership, donor, media or volunteer inquiries.
• To understand how the website is used and to improve it.
• To keep the website and contact form secure and free of spam.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who else handles your information

We use trusted services to run the website. They process information on our behalf:

• Our hosting provider stores the website and the messages sent through the contact form.
• An email service delivers those messages to our team mailbox.

These providers may process information on servers outside Somalia. We share information with others only where you ask us to, where the law requires it, or where it is needed to protect people from harm.

5. Cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The website works without them.

6. How long we keep it

We keep contact form messages for as long as we need them to respond and follow up on your inquiry. You can ask us to delete your message at any time.

7. Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email info@hawdclimateguardian.org from the address you used and we will respond. We may need to confirm who you are first.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information, including restricting access to messages to HCG staff and limiting how often the form can be used. No website or email service can be made completely secure, so please share only what you are comfortable sending.

9. Children

This website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, please tell us and we will delete it.

10. Links to other sites

The website links to other sites, such as our LinkedIn page. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
