Safeguarding & GESI
Our commitment to protecting communities, promoting inclusion, and ensuring accountability in all our work.
Our Commitment
HCG is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and protection. We have established comprehensive frameworks and policies to ensure the safety and dignity of all community members, staff, and partners.
- Safeguarding Framework with clear policies and procedures
- Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Policy
- Code of Conduct for all staff and partners
- Do No Harm principles integrated into all programming
- Conflict sensitivity analysis in program design
Gender & Inclusion
HCG actively promotes gender equality and social inclusion across all programs. We recognize that climate change impacts affect women, youth, and marginalized groups differently, and our programming reflects this understanding.
- Minimum 30% women representation in all community committees
- Active inclusion of IDPs, youth, and minority clans in activities
- Sex and age-disaggregated data collection and analysis
- Women-targeted livelihood and leadership programs
- Accessible feedback channels for all community members
Safeguarding Systems
Our safeguarding policy sets out how concerns are prevented, reported and handled. It requires induction training for staff and a signed acknowledgement from every staff member, volunteer and partner.
Code of Conduct
All staff, volunteers and partners are required to sign a Code of Conduct that sets out expected behaviour and prohibited actions.
Confidential Reporting
Confidential reporting is set out in the safeguarding policy. Concerns can be raised in person with the safeguarding focal person or by email to info@hawdclimateguardian.org.
Safeguarding Focal Person
A safeguarding focal person is responsible for receiving reports, supporting survivors, and coordinating responses.
Survivor-Centered Approach
All case handling follows survivor-centered principles, prioritizing safety, confidentiality, choice, and non-discrimination.
Community Feedback & Accountability
HCG provides accessible channels for community members to give feedback, raise concerns, or file complaints. Cases are logged, categorised, and resolved, with quarterly summaries reviewed by management and the Board.
