Who We Are
Hawd Climate Guardian (HCG) is a Somali-led climate resilience and community development organization working to strengthen vulnerable pastoral, agro-pastoral, and displacement-affected communities in Gedo Zone, Jubaland State.
Founded in February 2023, HCG is a Somali NGO permitted to operate by the Federal Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation (MoIFAR/NGOD/1310) and registered with Jubaland State (License No. 00215) and South West State (Registration No. 1203). It is also incorporated in Alberta, Canada as a society under the Societies Act. Our work is grounded in confirmed field operations in Gedo Zone (Dolow) and Bakool Region (Elbarde), with a delivery model designed to scale nationally through partnerships.
Our strategy centers on climate-smart agriculture, water security, rangeland restoration, sustainable livelihoods, and inclusive climate governance, delivered hand in hand with district administrations, line ministries, and the communities we serve.
We believe in collaborative approaches that respect local knowledge and build lasting partnerships with the district administrations and communities we work alongside.

Core Technical Team Functions
Our delivery model is built around the following technical functions.
Lead Field Agronomist
Leads climate-smart agriculture delivery, seed systems, and technical oversight of field trials.
Community Mobiliser & Gender Officer
Leads community engagement, household selection, and gender-inclusive participation.
Field Extension Worker
Manages day-to-day field delivery and KoBo-based monitoring data collection.
